Its about more than the medals ...

After skating flawlessly (well, as flawlessly as an 8 year old can) for two meets, Molly fell twice today and demonstrated why we selected Barrie Speed Skating as a place to grow.

In her 222 A final, she was leading going into the final corner, fell and valiantly scrambled to finish third. In her 333m heat, she tangled skates off the start and went down - only to rise again, and barely nose out a boy for second at the finish. Although she finished second, her time wasn't fast enough to make the A final.

After her race, with her now signature smile spread across her face, she stated, "that was my best race EVER, Dad!" ... showing both her resilience and her spirit.

Many of you know the difference sport can make to a human pathway. I certainly would not be who or where I am today if I hadn't been introduced to sport by my mom and dad.

How bout you?

Mollys on her way - I am a lucky Dad.

PS: as I write, I can't help but think of one of the most inspirational sport-resilience stories of our time.
