Part of being human is the inevitability of death.
But its just not supposed to happen at the Games.
As I ride the bus right now on the trek to the PNE to get my Olympic accreditation- the talk that was so positive and upbeat thos morning - has turned to somber discussion around the death of a Georgian bobsledder this morning in Whistler.
We are human - and we all will die - Death is part of every human day on earth.
It just isn't supposed to happen here - now
I feel like the wind has been knocked out of me.
My deepest symapthy to this athletes team mates and most importantly his family - who sent him off to represent his country is a fast, furious sport - that is much more dangerous than we realize.
So for a moment - we stop to both savour and reflect on the fragility of life.
God bless all of you and your endeavors. May you all return safely from the things you are passionate about.
